We Found A Winner: The Needak Rebounder

Remember jumping up and down on the bed when you were little? I do. I thought it was great fun bouncing on the mattress, although Mom disagreed.

Back then jumping meant play and fun. These days, it means exercise… and fun.

That’s right. Now that I’m a lot older (and heavier), I’ve rediscovered the joy of bouncing. My doctor told me I had to exercise more, lose weight… you know the drill. But jogging is not my style. Stationary bikes and steppers bore me to death. What was I to do?

Good thing my best friend talked me into getting one of those mini-trampoline things. I looked around, asked around, compared prices, and finally decided on the Needak Rebounder Non Folding Soft Bounce.

It’s definitely not the cheapest rebounder you can find, but I wanted quality and good value for my money. And I knew that I would stick to my exercise routine only if I was having fun, too.

What’s to Like About It?

When I was reading the product features what caught my attention was that the Needak Rebounder Non Folding Soft Bounce is made in the USA (read: good quality) and comes with an outstanding warranty: a lifetime warranty on the frame, 5 years on the cleats and springs, and 2 years on the mat. Sounds good to me. And although it’s meant for home use, the heavy steel construction is good enough for commercial use. Sounds even better.

But the clincher, for me at least, is that the Soft Bounce springs absorb up to 85% of the impact. Now I don’t know anything about measuring impact absorption and stuff, but I do know one thing– bouncing on this baby is like “bouncing on a cloud,” as one user put it.

The Needak Soft Bounce Rebounder uses a uniquely designed, barrel shaped spring that’s responsible for the rebounder’s “soft bounce.” Low-end imported rebounders use a short spring that tends to be stiff. Well, my ankles and knees would never last long on those mini-trampolines. I’m quite happy with my low-impact Soft Bounce Rebounder, thank you very much.

When my Needak Rebounder arrived, I simply pulled it out of the box, removed the plastic, stretched out each leg, and slipped it on its post. There’s practically no assembly required. Five minutes tops and you’re ready to go.

The Soft Bounce Rebounder measures 40” across and stands 10 inches high. It has a rated user capacity of 300 lbs. I weigh less than 200 lbs, so I can’t really say if a Needak Non Folding Soft Bounce would be able to handle that weight, but I do know someone who weighs 275 lbs who’s been using his Needak rebounder five times a week for 4 months now.

Or maybe I should say he used to weigh 275 pounds. Last I heard, his weight was down to 260 lbs. No complaints yet about his rebounder.

I was out of shape when my rebounder first arrived, so I started with 3 minutes of low jumps every day. After six months I’ve worked my way up to 30 minutes a day. I jog in place, dance, and do jumping jacks. I feel great and have a lot more energy, I can hardly believe it.

Who Can Use the Rebounder?

Anybody, young or old, can use a Needak Rebounder Non Folding Soft Bounce and benefit from it while having fun. Individuals in their 70’s say they love bouncing on it in time to fast music. Older people, though, should hold on to an optional stabilizer bar while bouncing.

Why Use a Needak Rebounder Soft Bounce?

The best answer to this question is, it’s a lot of fun. OK, just kidding. But it really is. Plus, it’s a great way to get fit and stay in shape. It provides a low-impact workout that’s easy on your joints.

They say that working out on a rebounder stimulates your lymphatic system and helps flush out toxins. Three weeks after I started using my rebounder, the pain in my right knee is gone.

What’s Not to Like About It?

Well, I guess the main thing going against it, if you want to put it that way, is its relatively high price. But hey! You get what you pay for. Besides, would you rather pay $40 for something you will use for only a week, or $272 for a product that you’ll continue to use and benefit from year after year?

If you live in a condo or small apartment, you may find that the Needak Rebounder takes up too much space. However, you can always stash it under a coffee table when not in use. That’s what I do.

Anything Else To Know?

When you order the Needak Rebounder Non Folding Soft Bounce from Amazon, it comes with a copy of the book, “Jumping for Health,” by Dr. Morton Walker, along with a copy of the Immune System DVD by Albert Carter. You also get a copy of the article “Aerobic Resistance Rebounding” written by Dr. Tina Wellman.

The book, DVD and article provide lots of interesting information about rebounding exercises and the immune system. An exercise DVD, though, would have come in handy.

All things considered, the Needak Rebounder Non Folding Soft Bounce is an excellent exercise product that gives real value for your money.
